Hi 1st time I've been on here to talk about my experiences I really don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I've gambled for well over 20 years my partner knows and God knows why tries to stick by me I seem to do well then relapse I see a counselor every few weeks and have gone and done it again. I seem to be addicted to the negative feelings of losing if that makes sense I have Gambian etc in place and haven't walked into an arcade bookies for years. Does it ever end honestly because I'm sick of been a coward I try every day and fail most of the timeÂ
Phone an advisor and speak about your gambling or find a GA meeting and meet others like you.Â
Unless you do something and stick to it you will lose everything. Sounds harsh but what needs to happen before you put the effort into it.
Think about it in terms of getting fat. Do you keep buying bigger t shirts or do you go to the gym and eat a balanced diet? One is easy and hides a problem, the other takes effort and isn’t fun but the rewards are better.Â
Good luck deciding.

Chris.
I remember going to a counsellor saying I just can not do it. that was many years ago. I was wrong. What I learnt is that there is a lot more going on in your mind than just I can or can not do it. Let me teach you a trick.
Instead of saying I can't. Ask yourself what would a healthy person do then identify yourself with that healthy person? Because if you only identify yourself as a gambler who can't change well guess what, you will be a gambler who can't change.
Change comes from effort as Chris says. You can't sit on your behind and just say no. You have to put in the effort and work your miracles everyday. Start by small ones. Many small miracles becomes bigger ones when you have put in the work.
Decide today that you are worth it. You are worth that change.
Just do it!
Best

@chris-uk thanks for the reply I fully understand the situation I'm in. I just lost it for a minute I guess I've really got to step up, I've done it before and will againÂ
@c43h thank you so much what a great way to explain it I fully intend to put the effort in. Seems I get complacent and it winds me in again
Affected by gambling?
