Thanks Everyone!!!

I crossed off another gamble free day on my calendar and I am resloved to NOT gamble today. Yes, I got paid and am grateful. Blocks are up and we excluded from that out of state sh#t hole of a slot parlor. It really is a sh#t hole. The only people in there are the poor folks who cannot get themselves out of there. I know some of you might be sick of hearing about it and it can be hard to resisit your own urges when I bring up the subject but, it helps me to be angry with them. It reminds me of the misery and financial ruin it has caused me and my family. So, I guess Hurricane Sandy is coming. Luckily we have a gas generator for situations like these. Will keep my fingers crossed that I can drive into work on Monday. ONE DAY AT A TIME.. just caught myself.. lol.. oh well, that's it for today. I am resolved to fight. Stay strong everybody, I will. and thanks again for your support and vote of confidence -- it really helps me!!!! 😀 -joanxxx

Thanks Rach! ((((())))))

Well diary, I crossed off another gamble free day on my calendar. In a few hours we will be heading out to Salem. Salem around Halloween time is a riot. I bought two giganatic pumpkins yesterday at a family owned farm in Marlborough. I plan on carving them up on Monday night when I get home from work. I love toasted pumpkin seeds. I'm not gonna let gambling or hurricane Sandy ruin my Halloween. And, you know what? I have money in my pocket people!! 😀 If my brain chemistry can be altered by a bunch of greedy goons I certainly have the power to CHANGE my own mind. Yes Carl, you are right.. No gambling IS the new gambling. My partner was down in the dumps yesterday b/c we have been pretty low on cash. I had put in a couple of extra hours that she had forgotten about. I pulled out a c note and handed it to her and said, look what you won by not gambling last night! She was so thrilled she almost cried. We ran out to one of her favorite stores and bought up a bunch of stuff for the house! So, that's that. Have a great day everybody. Stay strong, I will too. -joan

Hey Joan

I'd love to be going to Salem...WOW !!...the real thing on Halloween....we've just got Harry Potter..lol

Studied The Crucible at school and saw the play and it always stuck in my mind..all those "goody" women.

Looks like Sandy has been downsized to tropical so I think your Halloween wont be a washout...and am wondering if you are driving those big pumpkins down to the festivities and not carrying them...lol

Hoping you and Patrice have a "goody" time....whooooooooo xxx......

Thanks for posts Rach and NT.

Am writing on the fly. Just checking in to say I crossed off another gamble free day on my calendar. Had a blast in Salem yesterday. Soo many folks dressed up in constumes. Too much food of course. Had a huge slice of homemade pumpkin pie with real whip cream on top!! Today is a different story. Have been running around trying to get the house tied down for the arrival of hurricane Sandy. Not a full on hurricane but, a real nasty nor'easter. The weather people are calling it a "hybrid tropical storm" b/c it is being hijacked by another weather system. Bottom line is the electrical will most likely go down which means we've got to make sure the gas gennie is working ( which it is - whew!! ) Too d**n busy to even think about gambling but, even if it does come up -- screw 'em. I know that there is not a chance in hell that I can predict a win while playing. But, I can say with 100% certainty -- if I do not play I WILL WIN. So, that's that. Hope everyone is doing well today. If I'm off line for a few days it means the power went down and I'm fightin 'ol Sandy! 😀 -joanxx

Yo,

Rather you than me Hun . It got really cold here and I have done nothing that moan , a bit of rain and thought it might snow last night .

And that's me , thinking god I hate this weather , and then there is you , tiring everything down , preparing how to cope with no gas or electric . No Internet !

So maybe I should just put on another jumper and consider myself lucky ( oppps it is appropriate to mention luck on this site , might well get starred out lol)

Stay well , hope it passes by quickly and life returns to normality .

Hugs

Shiny xxxxxxxx

Thanks so much for the posts everybody! Much appreciated. 😀

Hi Diary,

Just crossed off another gamble free day on my calendar! I tell you, I have never been so resolved in my decision to STOP. My obsession was the slots and once I discovered that my brain chemistry was being manipulated instead of excitement at the thought, I feel a wave of nausea. Yes, it actually makes me feel sick! I am aware of my redundant posts. I am purposefully repeating myself. I find the affirmation to be helpful for now. If I play, I cannot win. The trick that is being played on my brain is that I think winning is somehow predictable. IT IS NOT. The only prediction I can make with 100% accuracy is: I win when I do not play - period! I say trick that is being played on my brain b/c it is a natural chemical event in the brain to try to predict. It is that momentary anticipation that hooks soooooo many of us. Look, whatever it takes right? However one reaches the conclusion that gambling is a pure CROCK of sh#t!!! That is all that matters. I believe I hear the Rocky theme being played in the backround. Bah Bah bappa bah bah bah bappa bah!!!! Getting strong now... 😀 Hugs everybody!! -joan

Thanks Carl!! 🙂

Hi Diary,

We made it through Hurricane Sandy without losing power which means no flooding. Sooooooo grateful this morning. The cape is still a mess and so is Boston but nothing like New Jersey and New York City. o*g!!!! We definitely dodged a bullet this time.. I crossed off another gamble free day on my calendar. I feel good today obviously because we are not bailing out the basement but because I remain strong in my resolve to not gamble. I am done!! No chance of me becoming complacent either. I will more than likely be a lifer at this site and I am fine with that. Yes I have the brain chemistry of an addict but, I also have the tools I need to keep myself out of addiction. I woke up with money in my pockets today. When I do not gamble I win! take care everybody. Stay strong. I will too. -joan - safe and dry in massachusetts. YAY!!

hey Joan..

glad to see your all dry and that the storm missed your state...

Saw some of the floods there in NY and it looks terrible...what a clean up operation...That city had its fair share of disasters in recent years so am guessing the folks will all pull together once again.

Despite high stress you are on the right road Joan..keep working it..you're worth it!!!

hugs
