I believe it was me who most likely lead the attack at the time and more than likely none of the above posters.

At the time I thought it was just a P@@@ take but it probably says more about where I was at the time , I was quite angry at that time , when I look back maybe we provoked his reactions at the time , although toads diary was a bit tongue in cheek I followed it with interest . I don't know maybe we were all toads at one point ?

Agreed Deano on part, but, I wasn't referring to any of the posters I was commenting on the hipocritacal, bizarre topic..

Your input shows how far you've come. Thanks for giving me some food for thought.

ps... Was never a toad but a urban fox

We are not the decision-makers regardless of all the above view points. I for one simply asked a question - I did not express an opinion. I've been argumentative on this forum and am learning by that but with some reflection I believe anyone has the right to be here as long as they don't "cross the line" - whatever that means! Best wishes, Phil

IMO he made co-dependants of us all, we could see what he needed to be doing and how his way wasn't working, we would want to help him and offer advise and do our utmost to make him think, to make him change his ways....all of it futile in the face of his addiction. No forum user could change anything for him because the changes had to come from him and he wasn't ready.

... When Toad slipped, through the bluster he was a real person whose coping mechanism was sarcasm and humour. I miss it. ...

I wish the real Toad would come back. I am however able to comprehend (which may come as a surprise) that I don't make the rules. If you are reading though Toad, I miss you. I hope yourself and your wife are enjoying time in the new house. I hope you've managed to sort the gambling out, and that you have finally blooming well excluded from that bookies that you spent your money in every lunchtime.

Agree that recovery is always available but being so very unready for so very long leaves him with a lot to prove. IMO it's about being able to set boundaries of what is and isn't acceptable rather than continual last chances in a bid to coax towards better choices. In other words, the classic co-dependent dilemma. The theory is easy but in practice?

Probably best this topic is locked now. It is only going to cause more disagreement between users without any end result in sight.

Admin made the decision re Toad. Time to move on
