Though I have only registered today, I have been reading the site for a number of years as a relative of a problem gambler. The latter has an iphone 5s which needs to have blocks installed but, from research, it seems pretty difficult with an iphone. Does anyone have any experience of this or can offer any advice? many thanks.

Hi Johnson,

You're correct, unfortunately, in that installing blocking software on iphones is pretty difficult. Some forum users may be able to advise you on software that may have worked for them, but Apple products are a bit more restrictive with the third party software they allow to be installed. Some folks have found some success with calling their service providers (EE, Vodafone, etc.) and asking them to block any websites that require you to be 18 or older. If that doesn't work, other people have found it more useful to not even have a smartphone, and just go back to using a basic phone without internet access. If someone doesn't have access to gambling through their phone, they're less likely to do as much damage. This all depends on their motivation to quit, as well, so you'd have to check that out with your relative.

Hope this helps, and feel free to recommend us to him or her if you haven't already.

All the best,

Travis

Hey Johnson.

I have an iPhone too, and I have just blocked mine by manually adding the websites. You have to set up a 4 code pin but you could ask someone else to do this for you. It's a pain, and takes a while to do, but once it's done it's done.

To do this you go under settings, general and then restrictions.

Any questions just ask.

Hi JohnsonH

Just want to add to Travis's reply that both K9 Web Protection and Net Nanny are designed to work with iPhones. You can find out more at http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software

Best wishes
