I am new to this so please bear with me

My son tried to kill himself on Friday attempting a overdose. He has a gambling problem mainly roulette machines. He got so low he felt like life just wasn't worth it. He lives 200 miles away (he is 24). He message me to tell me he was going to do it so I rang the police and ambulance and he had in fact taken tablets . I travel to the hospital but he refused to see me. 18 hours after admission he discharged himself. I found him at his property and persuade him to come home with me. He is now locked in his bedroom and won't come out , he dosnt want to talk to anyone. What do I do, I'm so worried

Ring gamcare and talk, they will have practical advice for you and support, keep us updated here, I don't know where things will go from here, but many of us have experienced the feelings you are feeling now, so keep talking here too. You're not alone.

Hi,

Sorry to hear what's happened. Call GamCare and would you try GamAnon meetings as well? And there are a lot of mothers on this forum, their posts might help you realise that you're not alone.

Let us know how you're doing.

You did the right thing Sonia in calling the police and ambulance. My son is 26 and a compulsive gambler. He started cutting himself as a way of dealing with the pain. It is so painful watching your child in so much pain that they want to end their life as a way of escaping.

As the others have said call Gamcare and see if you can get to a GamAnon group. You will see that you are not alone.

My heart goes out to you... stay strong and make sure you get support for yourself!!
