I have been gambling since I was 18 and I am now 43.

I have been gamble free now for 14 months.

In the not so distant past I must have been involved in virtually every form of gambling there is out there including, casinos both on and offline (online being very dangerous), shares, forex (yes shares, especially penny shares and forex is gambling with large sums), sports to name a few.

I must be self excluded from near every online gambling site out there as I have been doing it so long.

I have had to keep my emotions in check when I spent all my wages on payday with no money for bills, when loosing vast sums in penny stocks when they tank in a flash and so on.

I think the most difficult thing is the debt that gambling inevitably brings, have you noticed that addicted gamblers all have maxed out around 30-40k in debt, must be the limit of lending for the average person I guess.

It is easy to loose the value of money when you owe so much, what's the harm in spending the remains of my overdraft etc it cant get any worse....it can.

Please don't let this illness destroy you any more, I have lived this for 25 years, take advice from people on here. Lets face it there are no rich people in the bookies, even the so called rich gamblers we see online are all staked and most in financial difficulty or bust.

Have you noticed that the gambling adverts state 'don't spend more than you can afford' not risk spend...that says it all really.

Take care all.

You hit the Nail on the head they did some research on gambling and they found out only 6% people out of 100 have quit gambling once they have made their losses back  that just shows how strong gambling industry as they know the odds of compulsive gambliers which is what they need if majority of people were responsible gambliers how many bookies would survive?

@staywithit2478 Hi David, that’s great to hear.

Would you mind saying what happened to give you this change of mind regarding gambling or how you helped yourself to stop?

 Thanks

Chris.
