Well it's taken me 22 years to realise i have a gambling problem. I am in state of mixed emotions. I have been on gamstop for a week and I feel genuinely excited and happy about this.im not normally someone who shows any emotions. However i am over £150,000 and more in debt due to my gambling over the last 22 years. It's a strange feeling to know I in theory won't gamble again but in such chronic debt i have no way out. I always thought gambling would get me out of it but come to finally realise that's not the answer. My partner doesn't know of this, i have a half decent job but my debts are more than I earn each month. I have lurked on these pages for years but wanted to say hi and also I am an addicted gambler.

Hi Steve,

Everyone needs to take that first step & admit to themselves & someone else about their addiction.

Great to see you have registered with GAMSTOP.

Hopefully its for 5 years rather than a shorter period.

You don't say what form your gambling takes but its worth also registering with SENSE (for casinos) and MOSES for shops.

Get GAMBAN installed on your devices and most debit cards will allow you to block gambling transactions (Santander & Barclays certianly do).

You probably need to speak to your partner and you will need to speak to someone like Stepchange about your debt.

I can understand that feeling of excitement in the first few days and weeks of stopping, but its a huge road ahead and you will need all the support you can get, but remember this, you won't solve anything else while still gambling.

Are you ready to try gamblers anonymous ?
