I have managed to stay off Gambling now for 3 weeks which is one of the longest periods that i can remember. Pay day is one of my biggest triggers but i resisted temptation to gamble, I have taken up Tennis now play 3 or 4 times a week. Bad thing now is i tore my ligaments yday playing football and i won't be back playing for at least a few months so need to fine an alternative, something non sport related to keep me busy, sat in with the laptop and money in my bank isn't ideal and will really test my strength.
i will not give in i am going to fight this all the way!!!
Hi Sean
It sounds to me as if you are doing all the right things and it is a setback that you have been injured and are unable to pursue an activity that is helping you keep gambling at arms length. I have not gambled for over 14 months now and I have quite a lot of pastimes that prevent me from ever wanting to go back to gambling. I am the fittest I have been for over twenty years and I exercise my brain as much as my body. One of the things I did during my attempts to give up was to go on the Channel 4 programme Countdown and practising for the show not only filled valuable time but it also retrained my brain and taught it new tricks. Try this site for some mental gymnastics.

If it is not for you, there are always so many books to read. Try going to your local library and walking along the aisles looking at all the books. It won't be long before you find that you can't help opening one up and reading it. All for free.
Keep up the good work, three weeks is a great achievement, not to be underestimated.
