Just logged into this for the first time in over 300 days and it said on my profile "i have not gambled for 357 days" and its really sad that for about 320 of those days all i have done again is gamble every penny i have as well as thousands more in debt.

I want to say this is it and hopefully it will be as just put that 5 year Gamcare block on online gambling sites but i know there are ways around it, im not stupid, but really am thinking about being able to come on here in 300 days and be proud that after 20 years of gambling (15 of those very heavily) that the number will be the truth. Instead of building my balance up to "x" amount (even though every time you reach "x" amount the amount of "x" just increases until you lose it all) i want to build that number up!

Attempt number 3 is 2 days in so hopefully this is the one

hope you stay gamble free this time man. good step you have come here. better if you attend some of them meetings.. take care. I have been gamble free for 95 days.. I was gamble free for 1 year after a HUGE loss and then relapsed on 10th of july loosing 470 pounds, been staying out of trouble since that.

Hi wetfish. I have not been on the site much recently but looked this morning to discover that I am 357 days GF today. I then saw your title and was obviously drawn to it given the coincidence so I had to comment. I have also gambled for 20yrs and very heavily for around 15yrs so there are many similarities.

I can only advise you to never give up giving up. Signing up to Gamstop is a great move - I know there are always ways to gamble if you want but this narrows down the possibilities massively. I never thought I could do it but it is possible. I am not arrogant or stupid enough to think I've 'beat the addiction' but I am now in a much better place by not gambling. It's clear that you want to beat this so just offering some words of encouragement from someone who like you, was consumed by gambling day in day out for decades. It really can be done if you really want it - obviously it is incredibly hard but follow the advice on the forum but also find which bits work for you. I'm still many thousands in debt but am in a much better place by not gambling and using it as a form of escapism from the world.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that you reach the born again moment people refer to or your rock bottom soon (without any serious consequences hopefully). I'm rooting for you mate - it can be done.

Thanks both, stayed off the internet for a while so have not been on here, 10 day's and have not had a gamble. Weirdly though the last few days have been alot harder than the first week. It's all I can think about

I have just completed 300 days and it does get easier over time . The urges subside and the habit isn’t there because you make changes in your life to find other things to do . You are then not needing to gamble to get back your losses as you will always have money to do things with . I gambled for 25 years and all I can say is start a diary and commit to this . Good luck
