Hello folks,

Back on my lilly pad licking my wounds. What a horrible place to be. Only myself to blame. This cannot go on. Sitting here on my lily pad looking across a stagnant pond i feel so lost. I feel lost and alone.

Personally I would drop the frog metaphors and start getting serious about recovery

I sense you're likely still at a high level of delusion so its time to drop all the facades and face up to the world

this is the only way

Hi Toad,

Wonderful to see you back trying again. Put all the blocks you can in place, & remember it's never too late to stop. I wish you every success in stopping & seeing you enjoying the life you deserve.

Hello Slowlearner,

Thank you for your kind comments. I hope you are doing well on your journey.

I have left myself in a tight position but things will be okay if i don't gamble.

I am going on a work Christmas lunch on 19th December and i have scraps for the next 2 weeks before payday.

If i stay away from bookies i can get through and I have ordered some Christmas gifts for wife.

Feeling okay but at a cross roads either i stop gambling or run up more debts.

I have 4 loans and 4 credit cards left. I paid a credit card off last month. I want to pay 2 off in 2025.

Gambling just drains us all. I had won money last week but all the winnings went back but i paid my keep to wife which is a plus.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hello folks,

Trying to stay away but found myself in today. Was down to my last money and spent it all.

I left the bookies and when in my car i found money in another pocket so i went back in.

Lose lose and lose. One last bet!

It came in and made me profit i left.

So relieved but have money now for 2 weeks

I need to try harder and stay out. I need to stay away!!!!!!!

Hi,

What help are you getting? I tried for over a decade to stop of my own accord, because of course it's just a matter of willpower right? But I failed and went back to gambling over and over and over again. The only thing taking me in a new direction has been counselling/therapy which gets to the root causes of why I kept going back.

You say "I need to try harder and stay out. I need to stay away!!!!!!!" - yeah! Yeah you do! 🙂 But just trying harder with willpower isn't going to work. I think you know that.

You need to get excluded from the bookies. You might be embarrassed for two minutes but then you'll feel a massive relief. Use MOSES https://self-exclusion.co.uk/ and make sure you're on Gamstop as well to stop you moving it online.

If scratchcards are a problem then maybe stay out of the shops that sell them, as much as you can, and when you do have to go in, don't look at them. Just think of them as a big con (which they are), trying to scam you. You can be cleverer than them and beat them by not falling for it. When you scratch those stupid cards you're just scratching away your happiness.

Then make a resolution to tackle the root causes and give yourself (and your family) a happy future instead of continued misery my friend.

Make some changes now and make it a happy Christmas instead of a horrible one. All the best to you.
