this is my first day on the site. My sister sent me a link, she thought it might help me. My problem feels so huge I do not think I will ever be as successful as you. It started with being curious about things that popped up on Facebook telling everyone how they made loads of money very easily so I had a look thinking I would simply decide it was all lies. It was so elaborately set up with realistic videos etc of seemingly ordinary people whose lives had been totally changed. So i looked a bit deeper and to cut a long story short i ended up being phoned by several different companies and being inveigled into parting with £250. Then the pressure started - "to make serious money you need to invest more" and more and more, "another X thousand pounds will mean you have a "gold assount then a platinum account then a VIP account" etc etc. I really cannot add any more at the moment it is too involved and hurtful but let me just say that now at 70 i have nothing but my state pension and a very small amount a month from a private pension that will run out in a few years. My only saving grace is that i own my little house outright but some of the companies even tried to persuade me to borrow against that. They call it trading which is designed to make it sound respectable but in reality you never own anything you are just betting on whether a currency or shares etc will go up or down so it is just gambling. I kept on because i needed to try and recoup losses. I lost several hundred thousand pounds and because i still have my house i am afraid it might happen again.
Hi There, as with all forms of gambling or trading or in fact any forms of expenditure, we should only spend what we can afford. Lots of people do it, lots of people pay for things with loans and credit etc that they cant really afford. Its not the end of the world once it is under control. Here lies the problem for us addicts, as its never under control and never will be until we stop completely.
On social media you will see a lot of videos and stories who win life changing amounts of money through, stocks, betting, lotteries etc but the reality is for one person to strike it rich a few thousand others blew their cash. Call Gamcare and get some advice today as you will find its good to talk about it and get some support for yourself.
i have called them thank you and they gave me some good advice. I had no idea what these stories on face book were about, loads just started to pop up on my page, i ignored them for ages but finally got curious, bored and fed up probably I live on my own, my husband died a while back and it just went on from there. What an idiot. Hope you are getting on alright.
Hi big mistake. How awful for you, I'm sorry to see you here. If people were actually calling you I would take that very seriously. I have written to the gambling commission via email. They are restricted to what they can do but they may be if help. Especially regarding your age and the fact you were coerced. I personally would take it further. Good luck
Hi big mistake
I am very sorry your in this position you will find alot of help and encouragement on this forum. And you are not alone in this. I agree with merry go round on taking this matter further. But you need to stop any further investments the happy people on these videos are a way of pulling you in. Stay strong and seek some councelling from gamcare.

Thank you so much for your support. My sister is helping prepare a formal complaint as one company is supposedly registered with the FCA. The company is definitely registered with the Cyprus regulation organisation.
Thank you BW555 - I am not trading anymore but if i am honest that is probabably only because there is no money left. My complaint is nearly ready to go so i will let everyone know how i get on. I am still feeling very low and half of me does not believe that i have done this.
Affected by gambling?
