I’m hoping there is some chance of me getting my money back. Only started gambling in the past week and managed to lose £15,000, £9,000 of that in the past 24 hours.
I first put £6,000 onto one online casino and managed to turn it into £11,000. Requested a withdrawal but it was still sitting in my account for 3 days so I cancelled the withdrawal and lost it all.
Then took out a loan to try make the £6,000 I lost back but lost all £9,000 of that on another casino in the past 24 hours.
Any chance of getting my money back? I know it’s my own fault but I’m in shock. Didn’t have any issues with gambling until a week ago.
I’m also on medication that I’m not supposed to gamble on as it’s a dopamine agonist but I didn’t take that seriously.
I’ve already excluded myself and don’t plan to gamble again. Any advice on getting the money back would be really appreciated.
Hi,
Unfortunately you have not really a chance of getting your money back.
Although you only started to gamble a week ago , you’re showing signs of compulsive behaviour. The only real advice I could give is take it as a bad investment decision and never gamble again, because if you’ve lost that much in the space of a week imagine how bad it will be if you keep chasing to win it back .
Hey,
The bad news is that there is absolutely no way the casino's will give you your money back regardless of the situation, it's just not going to happen. You need to leave it behind and stop chasing your loss and you need to do it NOW before you get yourself in an even worse mess.
The good news is that you have only been gambling a week and if you stop now you can stop any further damage. As Jason has said thats a lot of money in just a week to gamble away and it looks like compulsive behaviour. It's common practice in online casinos for them to hold on to the big wins for as long as they possibly can because they WANT you to reverse and gamble it all away, they know most if not all compulsive gamblers will reverse if they have to wait a few weeks and they don't want you withdrawing and putting it into another casino, again, which most compulsive gamblers will do.
I hope you do not gamble again but if you find yourself having the urge and going back you must talk to your loved ones and get support from them, these forums, GA or Gamcare. I would suggest reading some of the stories of gambling on these forums from other members just so you get an idea of how destructive a gambling addiction can be when you get hooked. Hoping it doesn't come to that and you manage to stay off these gambling sites, remember the casino always wins! Best of luck!
Thanks both.
I’m definitely not going to gamble again. I can see clearly now and I’m so shocked and upset.
I don’t know how I’m going to manage without that money though... I’ve requested refunds from both casinos but as you say it’s not going to happen.
Was that all of your money that you gambled away? If you find yourself struggling is there any members of your family that can help you out until you can repay them? It's better to chalk it off and just start fresh, one thing you defintely should not do is borrow more money from banks or pay day loans that is how the cycle continues and it only brings more misery, take it from me, it's the worst possible thing you can do. You'd be much better to pay the loan off and never use them again. If you need help with repaying it or you feel you can't make the repayments then head over to Stepchange and they can set up a repayment plan, they take into account money you will need for the month and what is left is they will negioate with your creditors what you can afford to repay and also will ask them to freeze the interest whilst your paying it back. (They do not have to accept these terms though, it's at the creditors disgretion.)
