Hi,
I guess I'm a new member, 24hrs ago I finally made the decision to come clean to my partner and seek help. Although I'm glad I have done this and I do want to recover.Â
My brain can't let go of the losses I occur in that stupid gambling binge. Even now my brain is telling ways I could potentially win it back.Â
I guess I'm wondering how or if there's some better way of accepted the loss and moving on and not digging any deeper
HiÂ
Can understand why you will be thinking like that. Â But what maybe try thinking is what if you lose again? Even if you were to be lucky enough to win back the losses would you then actually quit or end up going for some more?Â
It’s a vicious circle where ultimately only the betting companies win. Â
Just know your not the only person who has these thoughts and feelings and good luck with trying to get away from this horrible addiction
Accepting the loss is a key. You could elaborate with metaphors of not accepting loss is not accepting the fact that you need to stop but do not really want to? You have heard stories about people winning back every cent they lost earlier just to loose it all again. Seen rounders? Another 3 stacks of high society and your safe right? Wrong. No money will ever buy you out of any addiction. Why because it is the fuel that keeps you going. Hard and cold truths that will always remain till you decide to do things differently.
Â
Focus on understanding you. What made you tick what makes you tick and how can you see yourself in a different light. Have a plan. Stay focused and learn. There is definitely room for a better tomorrow but you need to get a bit of help to get there.
Â
I wish you well
Â

I got the same feeling. you need to get through it , or it will end up of more loss. Just think about what can happen if you cannot stop, the situation can be even worse, you may commit crime, you will have no way to come back ...Â
@u32x1act7h Hiya. I have found the losses very hard to bear as well. Previously this has led me to gamble more to try and win back the losses...Â
This ends in disaster. You will inevitably lose everything you have left as the odds are against you and even if you do hit a big win your CG brain will let you redeposit it and lose it all again.
Dealing with the losses is hardest when you first stop. It's like you wake up to the craziness of what you have been doing. But it does get easier day by day.Â
It's all about focusing on the road ahead and placing one foot in front of another and not looking back to dwell on the spot you fell.
Affected by gambling?
