Hi everyone,

This is my first post on here and the last few weeks my gambleing has taken over my life.I started about 5 years ago as a way to block out problems at home with online slots.

I have been doing this ever since and when i feel i am getting bad i would close that account only to open another soon after.Im borrowing money off family and making excuses as to where my money has gone, and its making me feel terrible.

Up untill last september i hadnt gambled since april last year when i sliped and went in a bookies with a friend and we won on a couple of quid.It then started all over again the addiction was back because of the buzz.

From then on i must have lost a few grand online slots which i had borrowed from my overdraft or crefit cards.I stopped the online part as much as possible as i would always put the money back before the reverse withdrawl period was over.I have since turned to the highstreet as the buzz of winning upto 500 cash was great so i thought.i was winning lots as with my job i work in many town centres so temptation was to much.

I was paid last week and have since wasted all my spare cash for the month and borrowed more and lost the lot

Ive had enough of lieing to people now.sorry for the essay but feel better already shareing this.Any advice would be great, thank u in advance.

Hi spm14 and well done for coming on here I find it a big help also well done for the time spent away last year.

Have you tried ga meetings they are a massive help, also you could exclude yourself from all the betting shops you go to, put every barrier you possibly can in place to beat this thing.

Good luck and stay strong....ste26

Hi smp14 and welcome to our Forum,

This is a great step forward for you as you acknowledged that you need support with your gambling addiction and realising that it would not be good to continue in the same fashion with the people you care most.

At GamCare we offer confidential support to help you stop gambling and that includes practical tips, like self-exclusion and advice that could make things easier for you when you try to stop gambling. If you find that your urges are too strong to manage, we could refer you to see a counsellor which can help you emotionally.

Our lines are open between 8am and 12 midnight every day of the week and you are welcome to give us a call on our Freephone 0808 8020 133 and talk to a trained advisor. If you find it difficult to talk to someone at the moment you may chat to an adviser using the Netline.

Wishing you all the best with your recovery,

Ana
