Today is the first day of in 4 months I've not touched an fobt machine
I had 50 in my wallet and walked straight past the bookies and went and bought treats for my lovely german shepherd dog instead whom has not had as many treats since my gambling and it Felt GREAT.. Her face lit up when I brought her a nice bone to chew on home and some munchy biscuits.. The feeling I did something so good with money I'd usually gamble with was amazing- I still have 39 in my wallet and don't intend on spending it on any form of gambling
I know it's early days but the first days always the hardest and just today has made me feel better
I've come home to my wife and dog and hugged them..and as for the 39 I have left it's gone into my wife's purse for her to treat herself
All gambling money I would have just thrown in an fobt last week
I'll keep you all posted on tomorrow's updates
I've self excluded myself from the bookies also so no temptation there
Hi acorn,
Thank your for your heartfelt and positive post. It was good to read that Saturday had been a different day for you and that you have found the courage to do things differently that day. And it made you happy.
I hope that you can keep that day in mind. Recovery from problem gambling is a process with ups and downs and most likely some days will feel quite different to Saturday. Keep that courage up though. Keep bringing it back into your life.
You can do this!
Kind wishes
Gabriele
