Hi there, my name is Peter, 29 years old and i live in Aberdeen.

I've spent the last seven years slowly slipping into a bad gambling addiction and would like to try make 2017 the year i finally kick it. I would prefer to go into my 30's not spending countless hours in casinos, online betting and lurking about the various bookies.

My story is pretty much the same as everyones on here, i've lived through most of what i've read from other peoples posts.

Today i am going to start a 100 day challange and would appreciate any help, tips, advice, anything at all that can keep me on track.

Many Thanks for reading this.

Hi Peter,

I'm new too. I tried to kill myself yesterday. This place saved me.

Now i have a gambling addiction to kill instead.

Talk, use this forum as your place to talk. When you feel low and think you need to bet, talk, let it out here.

I found everyone helpful, everyone wants to help and has experience to help you.

Use the tools available, block your phone, laptops and exclude yourself from everything you can. Give your financial's up to a partner, family member until you can trust you can deal with them again.

Lots of useful stuff you can do to put out the flames and stop the reignition.

All the best, join me on my recovery, i'm on day 5.

I would say though take each day at a time!

I am sorry to hear that you've got to that point. I've been really down in the past where i've had those thoughts come over me. Stay strong and we will both get throught this horrible addiction. It's great that you've managed to reach for days. Before you know it, it will be 10, 20,40, 80 and you will hopefully put all of that pain in the past.

There are some fabulous challenges being run by memebers on the site. Warm and welcoming and have great advice and support.

To feel so low , and a number of us have contemplated the back door out of life you will always find someone here. If the chat numbers are down after mindnight and you ever and lets hope you never feel that low again contact the samaritans. I spoke to a lady before christmas and she was an angel.

It is confidential all they ask for is your first name and this is just so you feel comfortable

Support is crucial when our minds are wired in self destruct mode
