Good evening.

My name is Kev, and I know i have a problem with roulette gambling, in the bookies or sometimes online.

I've been a heavy problem gambler for a year or 2 now, i'd say. I had managed to go to a couple of GA meetings locally, but did not find them practical for me, as they were mainly horse racing related, although some of the stories did shock some sense into me (I have managed to stop for a while but this latest lapse)

I'm 25 years old, and have no control over my money, I've just lost over 1,000 this time and hate my life as it currently is - I Sometimes just want it to end.

My personality is very outgoing, but my gambling problem affects my mood, and people notice why I'm not so bubbly etc and i have to lie about it.

I know i can beat this, and need to find the strength to do so. I've signed up to this to find out the best way for me to beat this for good and to stop letting myself down.

Hi Kev,

Welcome to the Forum!

You've made a good step in the right direction by admitting that you have a gambling problem and by starting to do something about it.

You say that you have already managed to stay away from gambling for an amount of time and that shows that you can do it.

People often lapse while recovering from a gambling problem. Amd while this can feel like a failure to start with, it's important to keep in mind, that it is part of the recovery process, which is all about learning from your experience in order to change things around.

You can identify what hasnt worked this time and make some changes. Maybe you would like to talk this through with an advisor directly.

Netline http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/

HelpLine 0808 8020133

Both services are open from 8am to midnight every day. An advisor could discuss strategies which might be helpful to you, like installing blocking software on your computer, self-exclusion or handing your money to someone else for a while in order to cut yourself off access to money to gamble with.

I hope this helps.

Kind wishes

Gabi
