Good evening.

My name is Kev, and I know i have a problem with roulette gambling, in the bookies or sometimes online.

I've been a heavy problem gambler for a year or 2 now, i'd say. I had managed to go to a couple of GA meetings locally, but did not find them practical for me, as they were mainly horse racing related, although some of the stories did shock some sense into me (I have managed to stop for a while but this latest lapse)

I'm 25 years old, and have no control over my money, I've just lost over 1,000 this time and hate my life as it currently is - I Sometimes just want it to end.

My personality is very outgoing, but my gambling problem affects my mood, and people notice why I'm not so bubbly etc and i have to lie about it.

I know i can beat this, and need to find the strength to do so. I've signed up to this to find out the best way for me to beat this for good and to stop letting myself down.

Hi Kev, welcome. You will find lots of support here. Read the forum and the diaries they will really help with strategies. Also please contact Gamcare and get some support. Accept your loss, walk away from it, you can never win in the long run. Accept this and find out why you gamble. Hopefully the answers will help you realise you do not need this in your life.

Hi Kev,

I've just joined here today and your post made me realise that it took me about fifty or more attempts to quit smoking so it'll probably take me more than one attempt to quit gambling.

I think it'll be the same for you.

Think we should post ourselves a sticker for each day we don't gamble and if we have a lapse then post that too to get the support we need.

Stay strong and be kind to yourself xx

Thanks for the replies. Really appreciated!

I have contacted GamCare for support, and in the process of setting up counselling - Also got a few others things to help me stop this for good.

Going to use this everyday to read stories/update. As it has provided me with inspiration and the belief that I can do this - As i hate what it's doing to me and my life.

Just a update on this, I am now 1 month without gambling. I'm finding this alot easier with somebody controlling my finances at the moment, it's my payday monday... so the real test will be when I have money from then onwards but I'm feeling good and more focused. Lets hope it continues !
