Hi Mrs P, just read through your diary and I am delighed you are taking steps to regain control over your life. I would echo the advice of others - exclude, exclude, exclude!! I excluded, changed email, got new bank cards and most importantly got the support of my husband. Believe me (and many others) giving up this destructive habit cannot be done alone - you need blocks in place, and with the support and encouragement of your husband and your fellow CG's on here it is a task you can face head on.

The road of recovery is long but, rest assured it is most rewarding. Take care friend and best wishes on your journey xx

Mrs P life is to good to end it all, please try 1 week gamble free, just 1 week and see how you feel, the money you would have saved gambling you can buy your fella a massive steak and have a bbq on the weekend as the weather is lovely!! Think of the little things like going outside in shorts and tshirt without freezing your t**s off, there are a million things to do instead of gamble please try and get out of this mindset you are amazing!!! Lots of love Harry!!!!! Xxxxxxxxxxx

Tonight is going to be my biggest struggle, this is going to be my first night back at work, This is the time when it affects me the most.

If i can get through the next 3 nights without doing anything or letting it get to me, i will be happy. be prepared to hear a lot from me through the night.

Keep earning and try to stay happy Mrspuzzled.

keep focused that the gambling industry offered you nothing but misery. You wont be missing anything as you build up a healthy mindset again. They just wanted all your money so good riddance to them

Get some games on your device like 7 little words or other fun games. Plenty to choose from. Action games, word games, Chess :)....buy them from the play store or many are free 🙂 You will find some that you really like. Play those because they are entertaining for you.

There is also advice that you may have to hand over your gadgets if you havent got proper blocks and self exclusions. With proper blocks you should be able to use your gadgets safely

Keep talking about your feelings. You will completely beat this. when your counselling starts you will really be able to talk it all through

I remind you once again that gambling was nothing but misery for you. You will look back and wonder why you ever did it

Best wishes

Mrs P, as gamblers we have lost so much it is easy to become defeatist but you should try to think I WILL GET THROUGH THE NEXT 3 NIGHTS rather than hoping to do so. I worked nights for 4 years then off and on, according to my rota, and if you are not busy it can get very boring. Luckily for me that was years ago and most defintely before computers! I knitted lots, did crossword, read books and did a fair bit of chatting. If you are using your phone for gambling, please block it from accessing gambling sites or change your phone for the nights you are on to a handset without internet.

I'm not sure if this is something you would consider but I have enrolled in many online courses with Future Learn, they are free and if you wish you can pay to have a certificate at the end - I've never bothered about the certificate but I have learned loads. Here's the link: Future Learn

Best wishes on your road of recovery and take care xx

Hi Mrs P,

I would certainly echo everyone elses comments. The recommendation that has surpised me is the one to change the email address. I would recommend this so strongly if it is possible.

Good luck on your journey through this.
