Hello. I'm married to a compulsive gambler. I am currently trying to help him sort out his financial mess. I have helped him financially in the past but now realise that this doesn't help. He has had a payday loan with saftynet credit for 3 months. All of his wages get taken weekly bar £50 So he takes out a new one every week. This leaves him with nothing to pay household bills including the mortgage. If he cancels the c*P? What happens to the outstanding amount., can interest be frozen?

Hi Summer the best place for advice is stepchange. As you've discovered giving a gambler money doesn't help. It's his mess, his debt, his to sort out. He was very capable of getting a loan, it's up to him to sort the repayments. If he doesn't and you sort it, he will never learn. He should be handing over his access to money and finding a GA meeting. This will happen over and over again until you change the help you're offering. You can find a gamanon and learn from others who have followed a similar path to you.
