Hello all,

I’m Andy and I’m a compulsive gambler. I first walked into GA 30 January 2014 and my life since that day is unrecognisable. I’m not rich, I don’t have a big house, flash car, designer clothes or any of the trappings of the dream world of the compulsive gambler. However I have peace of mind, clarity of thought and I can sleep each night knowing I haven’t had a bet and I have tried to live right each day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been so hard and I have had to work hard, get to meetings, keep in touch with members. And the more I recover the harder I have to work to keep on the right path. Gambling is such a horrible, twisted illness. It makes no sense, has no positive rewards and makes us horrible, lying, cheating, thieving selfish people. There are no limits to gambling. There is only so much you can drink in a day, but gambling, you can keep going and will always find ways to get money to keep going. Anyway, I’m in a place where I’m trying to take my recovery further forward so would like to reach out to members from around the country and any support I can give I will always try. I go to Thursday meetings in Liverpool and I love GA, and I love being a compulsive gambler, cos I know who I am, I now understand what I do, why I do it and how to keep it at bay and how to take my life forward. I am at peace with my demons, and they are never taking control of my life again. Just for today I will not gamble.
