Hi
I'm.not exactly new i tried this before but was in a bad head space at the time and felt I wasn't getting any support like others did so I gave up. That was my own mind adding to the mess I had created.
So I'm giving it another go. I'm.in a better place to see clearer now and want to be a normal person again.
I've lost £175 tonight. That's a drop on the ocean to some but to me that's put me right in the muck!
I've tried to register with gamstop but I'm having a hard job getting it to identify me. Ironic really considering no gambling site has ever had the same problem.
Do I'm looking for tops, distractions etc. The money has gone nothing will change that. I'm.not telling my family that's just not an option for me I'm afraid so I have to do this alone but I really want to so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Cody,

You are over the first hurdle by admitting you have an issue. Now to really tackle this you will need support, as much as you can get. Opening up to someone close in your life who can help monitor finances would be a great help but judging by your post may not be practical.

Look up your nearest GA meeting, they are basically a support group of fellow compulsive gamblers. There you will hear from others whose stories will seem familiar to your own. Making recovery a part of your life will help you see whats needed in order to stop this addiction.

Cody - please read Allen Carrs - easy way to stop gambling - you can download it from Amazon , it was a life saver for me and hope it changes your mindset too.

Thankyou I've looked at the GA meetings near me but due to work shifts I won't be able to get there. I'll look up that book reading is one of my escapes so that's a good tip. I'm going to ring gamcare today and gamstop to see if I can get that sorted. I've closed every account but I know from experience there's always new ones easily to open so I need a way to block myself completely. I can't be on this roller coaster anymore that's for sure.

I have had the same struggle, doesn't matter how much information I give it, still not recognising me. I used last time, as there has been another time I stopped, I used a program called Gamban it was a tenner per gadget, I had a Samsung J5 can't get anymore android than that, It also worked on my laptop, but not my tablet, no idea for a ipad. It was a tenner per 12 months. It also stopped top cash back sites too, but for me it messed up my phone, I think it needed a lot of data and the phone didn't have alot of it.

I read last night about the 12 steps and that they have sponsors on this site that can help if you cannot get to a meeting, I also read the chatroom is helpful, but not yet tried that.

Good luck hun, same boat all be a sinking one eh. Bel xx

I've used software stuff before and always managed to unblock myself.
I've been persistent with gamstop this time and they've sent me a manual form via email tonight. I have to say they've not been that helpful so hopefully it can get sorted. I got paid yesterday and I won't lie I'm dying to go on the slots. I have tried but luckily I've excluded myself from them all which did make me chuckle to myself.
What a bloody mess this addiction is x

Hi,

I purchased Gamblock a few years ago and there's no way you can unblock that. Might be worth you shelling out a few quid for it? Also, have a look at hypnosis videos on youtube on overcoming problem gambling. It helped me.

All the best,

Stu

Get a friend to put K9 software on yoru devices PC, laptop etc. Get them to be the admin so you can't uninstall it. Worked for me. It and gamstop, saved my marriage and now I've got a good business with decent income. You can do this. That 175 you lost, it would pay for loads of software to stop you gambling. gamstop is free, k9 is free too.
