How do I stop the urge to gamble and why do I do it unintentionally, when I’m the end I lose and if I do win I put it all back in plus more just to get that thrill factor and in the end I just end up miserable.. Long story short I got paid last week and put just over 600 pounds of my wages into pub slots as i self excluded my self from the bookies in my area and don’t want too start online slots as I know which way that will go and if I drink and gamble it’s worse in terms of losing more money etc. what can I do to get past the addiction of wasting all my money?!

Yes I have the same problem. The only thing we can do is take away access to money. Without access to money we can do no harm or at leaat restrict the damage we do. I'm hoping the urges will subside after not playing for a while because we cant get money. I think it should get easier. Time and opportunity may be there but without money we can't do any damage. I'm going to concentrate on removing any access to money for a starting point and see how that goes.

I don't think you can  stop the urge to gamble because you are looking or your brain is looking for that hit then when you lose there's that afwul feeling which is opposite to the thrill .  I think you have to stop the gambling completely before you can deal with the gambling urges and you are forced to do this when you are on gamban Gamstop and that's what terrified me ,Having that choice taken away but I made the choice to do that as everything else failed and I'm now dealing with the reasons I fell into it all . The urges were so bad in the first three weeks and still come and go but much less often now . I'm addicted to saving my money now and watching it grow and knowing it's not going to vanishing on a slot in minutes. Giving control of your money for the first few weeks is a good idea as well .
