Hi my name's is brad I've been gambling for about 6 years. About 3 years ago I managed to stop for a couple of months when I randomly started it up again I was lucky and won 27k but from there I went down hill since then I haven't saved a penny and been in and out of debt with payday loans. I'm currently coming to the end of a deployment in Afghanistan with the army and have just gambled away everything I earnt out here along with a 6k pay out I received for breaking my shoulder and on top of this put my self 5k into an overdraft. I should be looking forward to getting home but now I'm just full of dread. I don't know what I'm going to tell my girl friend and family I'm absolutely broken and don't know why I keep doing this to my self. Most of the other lads are coming home to buy there first house or take their family's on holiday I'm coming back worried about how I'm going to eat and how I'm supposed to explain this to my loved ones.

I have applied for a bank loan just to cover some of my overdraft so that I can get through xmass but I have been turned down in the past and am worried they will say no again leaving me no other option than to take out a payday loan. I hate myself for doing this

I'm hoping today is the beginning of the end to this complete nightmare I've been going through

Hi Brad, get home and tell your girlfriend. Call gamcare and get some counselling. Find a GA meeting. Compulsive gambling is an emotional illness. You are not alone and not the first, but get some help and stop this before it ruins you.

Thanks for the reply I will do that. The bank never got back to me so I guess I'm a bit stuffed for Christmas

Don't worry about Christmas, put your time and energy into getting better.
