Hi , I won £35,000, I picked 7 numbers on **** and they all hit, ****** ******. That was 5 years ago, Now i have £40,000 on loans, credit cards, overdraft, my wife has just moved out , I didn't think I had a problem, I do now .
How can it all go so wrong.
I got the house valued today as its going to be sold, I have still to tell my family why
I played online casino, winning big and lossing big, chasing my losses, God knows how much I have lost over the years
I feel so ashamed , I have been so shelfish, Hurt the one I loved, Lost all trust from her
Any advice ??
hi 🙂
Hi Matt
I have not played online since the 2nd Jan, I closed my national lottery account, self excluded me from all onlIne sites I used for 5 years the maximum.
Anyone else the same experience
Both my worst ever periods were following a "winning streak" when everything feels good and suddenly it all goes very wrong.
Proves that even by winning we still lose.

Self excluded early October, felt tough at first but the pain starts to wear off.
Hello barryt27,
These are dark days now, but over time you will recover. It is never easy starting a recovery and rebuilding from scratch, but you can do it. Try not to look at what you lost, as that is in the past now, but focus on today and not gambling, and what you have to do going forward to not gamble.
For me, I found gambling created sort of a fantasy world, of how I can do this and that for people, and how much easier life will be. Basically, avoiding problems in general. But as my money disappeared, I found that I only created more problems and never resolved any of the problems I had. As I have stopped gambling, I have found life to start to get easier, even though I am broke . It like I feel free again.
Hope this helps.
Hi Barry,
Your not on your own , I hit my rock bottom following a big win.
The big win is the worst thing that can actually happen , once you win big the next big high would need to be a six figue sum to get remotely excited.
Having chased and chased and chased , wasted lots of money I hit my lowest ever low , that was 16 days ago and now in recovery so to speak , no couselling so to speak just keep coming on here each day.
How do you plan to tackle the issues you have ?
Thanks for your comments.
I have closed all accounts with online betting companies. I am limiting the amount of Money I have by reducing the limits on cards as I pay them off, I also reduce my over draft each time I get paid forcing me to spend less.
I have come clean with my wife but I don,t think that will save us but I will not give up trying. I really dont want to gamble anymore, but time will tell. It has been 12 days now .
Keep going Barry - this is the start of the rest of your life. I'm on day 12 of being gamble free too - I find keeping a recovery diary on here and updating it regularly is giving me a huge incentive to stay strong. The support from others who have been in a similar situation spurs me on - and now I feel that I don't want to let them down too as well as my own family. Hope you can keep it going Barry - just one day at a time - each gamble free day is a positive day.
Good luck and best wishes
Andrew
Yep, keep it up mate...Whether it is enough to save your marriage you will not know immediately but either way, you need to do this to save you! It's already 2 weeks tomorrow 🙂
I know you have closed accounts but have you heard of the blocking software, some of the on-liners on here swear by it as it breaks the Time-Money-Location even in moments of weakness!
This is not an easy path to stay on but it is possible with determination & support such as what is available within these pages! You can do this - ODAAT
Thanks for all the comments
