I have always been an incredibly responsible and successful person. Once COVID hit, I was isolated for over 2 years, and because of an ankle surgery and family drama, I hadn’t been around family for over 4 years. I moved overseas, and now I’m in the UK. I was incredibly sound financially, and now I have ruined my life because of online slots. I have no idea what to do. I met and married my husband during this addiction. I thought I had it under control, but I didn’t. Now I have ruined his life as well. I feel like I’m going to lose my job and ruin our futures. I just need help, but I don’t know what to do. I can’t afford a therapist. I’m an Afghanistan War Veteran, and I’ve just been through way too much in life. Nothing feels worth it anymore.

Hi there. The most important part of recovery for me was helping others much worse off than myself through local volunteering it really shook me out of selfishness and gave me a totally different perspective

Start tomorrow with a simple call to your local centres honestly you will find meaningful connections and start to realise there is another side to life

  Best

Hello

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Unfortunately there is no other way around what I'm going to say so excuse me if I sound blunt. The only way you will get over this is to stop making excuses for why you can't stop, and start thinking of all the positives.

I gambled for 13 years. I'm on day 124 and looking back I too made excuses for my behaviour. I had enough and never looked back. Something in me snapped and I am giving up by sheer willpower and desire for a better life.

Give control of the finances to your husband, if there is no money then you can't gamble! and exclude on EVERY platform possible. Gamban is good on your devices.

The only person stopping you is you.

Good luck xx

you need to tell your husband and get him to take over the finances. This is what i did 3 years when i broke down amd told him. Also i saw a counsellor and register with Gamstop
