Hello everyone. I am on a downward spiral again. Bombarded with offers, depressed beyond belief and only thing I turn to is gambling. I don't care if I don't wake up!

Hi Jack,

I know how you feel mate!! I've not had a bet for only 7 days now and the struggle and temptation is always there. Its essential to finally break the cycle and to do this you need to get some form of Help. Family, friends or if not people close to you then maybe some form of counciling. You will be amazed how much they can help you, giving you strategies to avoid betting and advice. Also you have to want to stop and have a degree of will power or without this or any support it's so hard to stop and you will end up in the vicious cycle doing it again and again. It honestly does get better and the longer you go without betting the more money you save, the better you feel, confidence comes back and you start to get you life back.

If you ever want to chat just hit me up on here. Goodluck mate.

Paul

Hi Paul, it's amazing how just a reply from someone who understands, can give one a boost. I have got to a stage in my life, where the only relief from the everyday march to the reaper is to bet. Only horses though. I really have no interest in any other form of gambling. I was quite solvent up to three years ago, but due to a sudden illness I was left short of money to pay my way. Exchange betting seemed to offer a way out, and for some time it gave me hope. Of course it couldn't continue to bail me out. I ran up debts of a few thousand quid, and yes, you guessed it, tried to bet my way out. It isn't the way. I know it. I must pay my debts, but I don't have enough income, even though I work hard. Better to nip in the bud though really. Stopping while " behind" is tough. Has to be though. Thanks Paul. Your reply means plenty! Jack.

That's what I found the hardest part to stop betting while behind. But look at at it this way a few thousand down or if you continue over time that 2 or 3 thousand turns into 20 or 30k and then everything looks hopeless. I know how hard it is to stop when you think I can win it back with one more bet but as we know there is no such thing as one more bet!! That leads to another then another then it gets worse. It really is best to just stop, get support, pay back debts (doesn't matter how long it takes), I guarantee over time you get your life back. For me I never had an issue with horses or football is was the stupidity of online casino slots.

As I said though mate just take it daily, try and get some support and always come on here if you need to chat.

Paul

Thanks Paul. Wise words indeed. I am determined to put an end to it. It is, as you say, better now than when it really IS too late. I sincerely hope you achieve your goal. You sound like you have made your mind up. I will keep you updated. Here's to you, and here's to me to!

Jack.

Hi Jack

Sorry to hear what gambling has done to you mate it's a horrible addiction that everyone on this forum would like to cure ! It's very hard in the early days and I think if you can get through these days and start to put things in place to try and stop gambling this will help you a lot, like trying to keep busy at weekends, its easier said than done sometimes though ! Like you my main thing was horses and dread to think where I could be now if I had got into the fobt that seem to have got a lot of people !! Hope things are improving day by day and shall look out for future updates.

All the Best
