I’ve been a gambler for years. At first, it was online; I blew thousands on football, roulette, and anything else. I stopped for a good while, but now I have a bigger problem. For the last two years, I’ve been going into the bookies—it’s like a routine to start my day. I’ve won, but I lose more. I just can’t stop myself from going in, and I need help. I feel like I shouldn’t have cash because I’ll end up spending it in the bookies. I feel depressed and selfish. I work, but I look too far ahead, thinking about my next payday. I feel like I’m in a deep hole. I have a young family, and I just wish I could snap out of this downer and pressure. I’ve begged God to take it away, and He has, until my guard is down.

Welcome @Jay

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum

I hope you will find the support from others beneficial, you are not on your own in this and the first step forward is engaging in support

You may find it useful to put in place a bookmakers self exclusion through the MOSES scheme - the details are here: https://self-exclusion.co.uk/

Do contact our helpline if you are in need of further support, we are open 24/7

Take care

Phoebe

Hey . So new to all this . Not great at sharing or chatting but need help and support and can’t turn to family they don’t understand . Have chronic illness as well as having to give up work due to it . I’ve gambled before and excluded and stopped for 5 years but this time I need more help . Been ill over 6 weeks and turned to gambling to try and make me feel better .. it doesn’t . But I keep doing it .. worst part is I don’t have any money to do it with so now spent on hubby’s CCard that he don’t know about . I can’t tell him he will divorce me . He may find out himself if he decides to check statement . I keep blocking the sites when texts come through but then they send on a diff number . Endless . They push you to do it . How else can I stop them coming through maybe get rid of phone .. has anyone done that .. just need people to talk to when I get the itch to gamble which is normally when everyone else is asleep as I have insomnia so don’t sleep well at all . Advice welcome and general chat x

Hey Jay.

Welcome to the forum. Going back to gambling after stopping for a while must make it much worse, especially as you can't find a way to stop.

The first thing you need to do is register yourself into the MOSES scheme to stop you from being able to actually go into the bookies. Cutting off your means to gambling is crucial. If you haven't already, I implore you to talk to someone, anyone about your problem and get some support around you.

If you can, hand over control of your finances to someone else then I suggest you do that too. Limiting your access to money will mean you have nothing to gamble with.

Best of luck mate. 💪🏾
