I've struggled with gambling for 20 years, sometimes i stop for periods and then go straight back to it! i have a young family who need me and i have to fight this. i was about 4 months clean, gambled with a crypto casino and has a big win, and they've ripped me off over small print. I now look at this as maybe a good thing, if I got it I would have lost it again within weeks and more and it would keep me in the cycle. I am also deleting my old email address which has primarily been used for gambling and crypto accounts and every time i get an email through it pulls me back in. Any tips on how to stop permanently ? also do the walk in GA meetings help as I've tried everything else ? thank you

Hi,

Well done for coming on here and opening up. My advice - just grab hold of every bit of help you can get. Triple lock all the doors and open up to someone. The addiction wants you to keep secrets and by not doing that, you’re already a winner.

I took out a huge amount of debt (tens of thousands of pounds) in my husband’s name without him knowing. 22 months ago I hit rock bottom and had to tell him everything. It was the best thing I did and I’ve never looked back.

You cannot do this on willpower alone. You need help and support from your loved ones. But most importantly, please be kind to yourself - this is a terrible illness you’re battling.

Take care,

Claire

Hey buddy i hope your doing ok.

I can relate in the sense of having periods away & going back to it in the past.

On tightening up your blocks, I would advise installing Gamban. Ring Gamcare up & ask for a license off them they'll do u a free one.

Me personally i think if i go back to it & have that first bet i would be doing 10x more damage than i've ever done & I would think that's the same for you.

One day at a time is what we must live by, temptations everywhere with gambling & it's a case of overcoming potential triggers from here.

Do get yourself back to GA when possible & ensure u have the support of your family & anyone else close to you.

Always here if you need mate.

There's a better life out there.
