Today is New Year’s Eve and I’m fed up of feeling the way I do. From overeating, overbuying, excess drinking to my new ‘drug’ bingo. I’m not stupid, I know the chance of winning the jackpot when 500 plus people are playing is slim. Luckily for me I won a few hundred quid so my loss wasn’t as great. But the temptation is there and it niggles away. I know currently my situation is better than some in that I’m not heavily in debt but I realise this is the start of a slippery slope. A horrible guilt trip when you realise another £100 thrown into the ring and the ‘one to gos’ that keep me thinking ... maybe next time. I hope my post will resonate enough that I can get advice from people as I have no one to talk to. Thank you

Unfortunately the bingo progresses onto the slots and then the danger becomes a whole new ball game. Stay safe, keep your money for your family x

Hi Newstart and Welcome.

I hope you can talk to somebody close about it. There is a tendency to think Bingo is a soft option but it can be very dangerous like any form of gambling.

You mention the odds are slim and you need to focus down on those odds. If 500+ people are playing that says it all really. Bingo relies on the same lucky clover feeling as other forms and its how we get hooked.

Its not an income scheme so are you going to keep playing based on those odds? You already know this but the regular winners are the people and staff who run the event whether its online or in a hall.

I hope you will join us gamble free. I think youve realised that you have an addiction problem and you need to sit down and write how much you have lost over time. Please dont talk yourself into a comfort zone as I think you know that one win wont touch the losses and you would be back playing anyway.

Are you now ready to stop? You dont need gambling in your life. It ruins people.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
