Hi all!
I am 33 years old and have been gambling all my adult life (and then some)
It started in the arcades on family holidays at the age of 9, then fruit machines in pubs before the dreaded FOBT
I have lost 1000s I dare to think actually how much but more than that I have lost friendships & relationships some forever, some permanently strained. I have nearly lost jobs and houses over this crippling addiction. I even nearly lost my life
This is the most concerted effort I have ever made and am currently 2/3 of the way through counselling I have self excluded and closed online accounts
I have had some ups and downs over the last 3 months but definitely cut down and I am getting there just thought I'd share my story and see where we go

Hi, thanks for sharing your story, I too decided to join these forums today in order to try and prevent any further misery. I think sharing stories can help all of us. Anytime I feel to chase my losses I am going to decide to chat on here, I aim to change my most recent history from online bookmakers to this forum instead
Thanks for taking the time to reply James, hopefully we can cure ourselves of this cruel affliction. I think that just going to counselling is a magic fix but need to realise it's going to take a lot of hard work and it is me and me alone that can do it.
