Good morning,

 I started gambling out of control in 2016, I really don’t know what triggered it as I always used to have £5 every weekend on football without any concerns.
8 years on I have gambled away around 250k. Had several loans, credit cards, gambled my redundancy money the list goes on. Today I spend £1200 on repaying them back each month and won’t be debt free for 3 1/2 years.

My question is why, why do we do it. I will begrudge myself spending £50 on a pair of new trainers, yet will happily lose 3k gambling on football. It makes no sense, it’s stupidity but I still do it!!

I have signed up to many sites to quit but still find away around signing up to sites not on Gamstop. I need to get a grip and wake up to reality before it’s too late for me.

Hi there    Without wanting to sound overly trite about our addiction in my experience it came down to me actually believing I was so skilled and smarter professionally than the company systems that eventually I would find the holy grail of a lifetime profit stream to solve my financial problem

As is always the case show me a poor bookmaker or stock broker who always work off our cash percentage inputs you will never find one and we I am afraid are the people enabling them

So stop hitting that button and get yourself locked out of this matrix by control of all credit and debit cards and use all tools on here to defeat this

It has worked for a lot of us

  Best MH

@c17ort
You have been on here a while now and had good spells of abstinence.

What worked for you before and what changed?

Chris.

Hi King

I totally agree with making hay above. I thought I could make a career out of sports betting just because I had some big priced winners. But pretty quickly this has proved to be an illusion as I lost a substantial amount of money in a short space of time. By the time all this has happened the pathways have been created in my brain and I already got hooked. Finally came the part that floored me and I think that might be relevant to you as we'll, which is chasing the losses. I think we cannot let the losses go, especially, this in my opinion by the way, fairly large ones where we have a little chance of having that kind of money again. So what do we do? We continue to chase what we have lost and this is the ultimate downfall unfortunately. Ultimate reason for us to keep going back to gambling and trying once more and the vicious cycle starts again.

You know what you need to to my friend. Let us remember, when gambling is active in our lives, it is very stressful and unstable. And we really don't care about anything else except of winning as addiction is in the driving seat but in fact all we do is losing on all fronts.

Take care of yourself.

Ergos
