Hi again
Yesterday I posted as a new member and I've had no replies. Can anyone spare some words to help me on this new journey of not betting as I just feel I need the vote of confidence.
My problem is tennis and football. Now to me people who bet on casinos fruit machines and games there is a lot more luck than football and tennis. Yes there is luck in sports too but my head says if a player has beaten his opponent twice in the past 2-0 in sets and he is the better player then he should beat him again. At odds of evens I see this as a great way to make money but as we all know win or lose eventually as a gambler I will lose as we bet till its all gone. I have avoided the games and fruit machines as they are pure luck. No form or statistics just luck. Get it at the right time you win if not you lose but even then eventually all tje winnings are lost too.
So my problem now is the football tomorrow. I love football and am convinced I can pick out a winning accumulator with reduced stake. But I know once i start again I'll lose hundreds again. I usually bet on tennis in hundreds so if i bet ttwenty quid its pocket change but I just need the vote of confidence and someone to agree that yes I may well win 200 picking out an accumulator tomorrow but that won't replace the thousands I've lost and how will I stop if I keep telling myself that reduced stakes is ok....

Hi Mba
You have the answer in your post, yes you may win 200 but the only truly way to win is not gambling. You may lose 200 try to win back and there it lies constantly chasing losses. We are all in the same boat and none of us will win because we don't know when to stop. Keep focused, stay positive and stay gamble free.
The only winners are the faceless bookies, casinos, online sites.
You have taken the first step to a better life and you can do it just take it one day at a time.
Stay strong and keep posting

Hi Mda
I can relate to your problem a lot. I think Casino games are a mugs game pure and simple. I've actually sat down and looked at the maths on certain games. The odds are high in the houses favour. The online games are 100% fixed. Rarely touched them and was never interested.
Horse racing was my aqualis heal so too say. I'm not going to say you can or can't win at sports games. I used to do my homework on certain horses. Some I picked should of been guaranteed winners, after taking into account so many factors. I used to have some incredible winning streaks. I know how the story goes. We start thinking 'wow, I'm really good at this', 'I've found a system that no one has thought off' blah blah! Than sods law kicks in, no matter how good we think we are you just can't get a winner.
Some people purely gamble for fun. They accept they get a few winners and a few losers, the excitement of the thrill is all they want really. Than there's people like me who look to make a continuous profit for gambling. I think I've found a way to do it, than bam! I lose everything. Having a compulsive nature exacerbates matters. You have anxiety about your losses, you look for that one last throw of the dice so to say. Just to break even, than walk away. If you win than you never keep that promise, if you lose you'll be back once the blues have died down and your bank account recovers a bit.
If this sounds like you, than chances are you have a compulsive problem like me. From what you have written I can tell you don't enjoy this way of life. You have to accept that you have lost, and the bookies have won. Your not going to get that money back. Have you taken a kicking in the wallet lately after a bad losing streak?
There's nothing I can say or anyone else here can say that can make you stop gambling. Only you can do that, just one step at a time. The community is here to listen and help you take those steps along the way. It does get easier. However you have to ask yourself a deep inner question, do I really want to stop? do I want to be that person who's sour now but will gamble again in a month time when the blues have died down?
If you really want to stop than the first step you need to do is to shut down and self exclude from any online gambling sites. I would also advice signing up and creating accounts on sites your not a member off, than self excluding yourself from those sites. If football and tennis is your only gambling outlet than that's a good thing really. There's maybe only a couple of dozen sites that will do sports betting. Compared to thousands of online casino gaming sites.
Welcome to the community, stay engaged and stay strong.

Hi matt.
You have summed that all up absolutely perfect.
You agree online games are pure luck. I won't play them as im not lucky.
As I said looking at form and being sure on a sports result is in theory a better way of winning and the luck part of it is reduced.
2 years ago I won 17k in 3 weeks. 1k bets on tennis at evens I couldn't lose. I truly believe in periods of luck as during them 3 weeks I just couldn't lose. I clearly should have stopped or controlled my betting by using small stakes as I was financially secure. but no. 3 week's later I've lost it all.
Since then twice I won about 8k but lost it all again.
Now I sit over 10k in debt to credit cards, overdraft and loans & just want to be debt free.
Even if I won 10k would I walk away. No people like us can't, so I just need to stop the betting and slowly reduce this debt.
How's your progress mate I'm nearly through day 2 and your post really helps thank you.
Also matt I like the idea of the self exclusion from sites I don't have an account. I will do this.
Another question you asked yes I lost 1k on Wednesday. Disgusting I know and I just cant lose anymore as next time it will probably be my wife and two girls.
