Hi hitthefan

Well done for coming on here and admitting you have a problem, that takes a lot of guts. I am a 34 year old with 2 kids and have the same problem as you with online bingo- well mainly slots. It took almost everything from me before I realised how much of a problem I had.

I am now 55 days free of that horrible addiction and still counting. My addiction led to me spending all day and most nights spinning those reels and I would deposit 20 after 20 until hundreds gone in a couple of hours.

So self exclude first, and get blockers for your laptop if you need them.

Accept what has gone before. It's in the past. Now it's time to look to the future.

We will all support you all the way

Linda

hi hitthefan

well done on taking the measures you need to help you in recovery. I would say the biggest thing you need to keep you from gambling is the want to stop. That will keep you going when you get the urges. I also realise now that winning was poison to me because it would just give me more credits to carry on until I lost. I cannot win because I cannot stop. I think this every day I get an urge. It works for me. I am only 55 days free and still have debt up to my eyeballs and no real savings or assets but my life has never been better. So gift yourself the freedom and everything else will work itself out.

Linda x

Hi Hithefan

Ive just joined today.

I'm stay at home mum and have been playing bingo/slots (mainly slots) for a few years now. Things have got really bad recently. I lost loads of money....money which should have gone elsewhere.

Good to know there are others out there who know how it feels and can give advice.

Today is the day for me......it got to be.

Emz x

Now for dilemma .do I carry on paying debts in large amounts and remain skint or discuss with husband full extent of damage and get financial help he has helped out before and said no more. I went back to work full time in last year was very part time previously. He works away earns a lot. So had a lot of time to think these last few days.

How much are we talking here, if it's really high I'd talk to him and get help..if it's painful but manageable I'd pay them off myself. Keep the blockers on, watch gambling addiction videos on youtube and never do it again.

Hi! Did you tell your husband yet?

I am in a very similar situation, 40, 2 children, work almost full time and addicted to slots.

I have so many accounts it would take me an age to self exclude from them all so at the moment I just have a blocker on. I also have put a blocker on my work pc so I can't be tempted there either. I do have access to another pc but am usually so busy when I use that one that I have no time to gamble.

At the moment it worries me to even log in and self exclude in case I get tempted to deposit. Every time I exclude or set a low deposit limit I just go to another site and open an account there.

I haven't told my husband yet and must admit I am scared to as he told me he would leave me if it ever got out of hand. I don't think he understands this is an addiction and an illness that isn't easy to get out of.

So far I am hoping that posting on here and the advice/support from others will be enough to keep me away from the evil slots.
