Hi everyone i’ve decided to take the plunge and give this a go again, life is starting to become chaotic again with gambling. Managed to go 2 years without a bet and then stupidly but a silly little bet on 18 months ago, since then it’s been off a bet for a while and then going crazy, last few weeks it’s getting very crazy.

Currently furloughed from work and with 5 kids 2 of which are disabled life is pretty mental. Feeling very low and angry just now. When I want gambling life was so much simpler.

Today is the 1st of September, today you give up for good, easy date to remember.  As you say you’ve done 2 years before so you can do it again. Knuckle down and smash this mate.

5 kids must be so expensive, and gambling will only make that worse. Being on furlough I imagine your bored out of your mind but gambling isn’t the answer mate.

You say your feeling low,  your hate feeling low right, gambling will only allow that to continue.

Get the blocks in place, make today the first day of the rest of your life.

Welcome back Jamie,

It’s great to hear you’re giving it another go. Firstly, congratulations on going 2 years without a bet, that shows that you can recover from this.

I can understand it must be difficult to be furloughed with the challenge of being home full time with 5 kids too.

In regards to feeling low, gambling can be used as an escape from those feelings only to make you feel worse in the long run. I was wondering whether you have seen your GP about how you are feeling?

It sounds to me like you are struggling right now and I wondered whether you had spoken to an Adviser? A gambling addiction is not something you need to go through alone and calling our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or visiting our NetLine an Adviser will be able to provide you with further support and go through all the options that are available to you to help you recover from this.

Kind regards

Sallie

first full day not gambling in a while, all good no urges, i’ve been reading a lot of diaries and see some people struggle earlier on and the. get stronger, i’m opposite start off well and then begin to lose motivation. Need to come up with a plan for the weekend as that’s the main trigger.

Another day ticked off without any real troubles. Starting to feel nervous/anxious about the weekend, can be so determined and then the thought of gambling just makes sense. Down at my caravan this weekend and the nearest bookies is 6 miles away and I dont drive so hopefully that should be enough of a barrier to stop me if the urge comes.
