Hi there. Im new to this site. I wondered if anyone here is perhaps in the same boat as myself. My partner thinks I have a gambling issue. I enjoy bingo. I like the game and I'm not on it all the time. Not even day. But in the past I have spent more than I have. I find especially now with being in more tis a distraction. Is there any advice anyone has. I have self excluded from most gaming sites Â
Hi Cas29, welcome here. The question is do YOU think YOU have a problem to which I assume the answer is yes and is why you are here.
The next question is do YOU want to stop, if you do there are many things you can do to block online gambling.
First you need to register with Gamstop for 5 years, then install a blocker on the devices you use, phone, laptop, ipad or whatever. I have betblocker installed, again for 5 years, and it can't be removed. Next cancel your debit card and get a new one and when it arrives give it to your partner, why, because if you are like I was you will know your card number off by heart. Also contact your bank to ask them to put a block on all gambling transactions, some do some don't so move to a bank that does if yours won't.
All these will stop you being able to gamble when the urge arises but you may also want to contact gamcare and speak to an advisor, they are really helpful, and will give you guidance specific to your own situation.
You say you are spending more than you can afford, replace the word spending with losing which is what you really mean so get all the help you can before you get in too deep. The longer this goes on you will start chasing the losses, and believe me, I and many others on here kept going chasing until we hit rock bottom.Â
Read other peoples stories and see how others are coping with this addiction, but we all want the same thing, to be rid of this awful addiction that has ruined our lives for a long time.
Your partner seems to have given you a wakle up call to your overspending so please put things in place before it gets too late.
Good luck and keep updating your progress
