Well done Tilly indeed. My son is only at the very start of his gf life, hope he can demonstrate the same success as you. He wanted a PS4 so we got him one for his birthday, as he said one of the reasons he gambles is boredom, so hopefully that will keep him occupied some of the time. Sounds like you're mentally in a better place than him though, and on the road to recovery.

Thank to everyone for your kind words lately. What I have seen over the last 73 days of being on here is just how many people come in for advice and then disappear again. It's such a horrible addiction that c*****e so many people in so many different ways. To all those that have and are abstaining a huge well done and keep it up. For those reading this that aren't quite there then it is possible you just need to make sure you have as many blocks in place and the will to give up. I know myself over the 22 years of gambling that I was never ready to stop. Most people have to hit rock bottom before they really get the wake up call. Each month I would gamble away my months wages within 12 hours and then say that's it I'm stopping......did I stop......no.....only until I next got paid again......why you may ask......because I never had blocks in place and I would just leave one or two of my favourite sites available thinking that next month I would control it and just win my money back. We have no control and until you admit that you are a CG and wake up to the fact that you will never have any control you won't stop.

Take care all.

Hi Tilly

I just came to this site on Saturday after admitting my problem to my family and calling gamcare, your story is so like mine, on line gambling where you think 'I'll only put in a wee £50 which turns into a wee £1000. I'm hate feeling sick all the time and thinking that £1000 could have bought xy & z. I feel I'm in a mood all the time. Like you my debts are tousands and presently looking into debt management and also waiting on my counselling. I know its only been 5 days but 5 days where my bank balance has stayed the same. I hope one day to be showing 74 days just like you and at the moment I am positive I can achieve this xx

Wow tilly 74 days that's amazing , I'm on day 15 and hearing stories like yours keeps me going . I was a long term gambler too I gambled for 26 years and said I was going to stop hundreds of times but I never did ! I don't think you can stop gambling until you are really ready too . I hope I can say I've done 74 days g f like you it is such an achievement . Loz

Thank you for all your comments. I have managed to get to 80 days doing it the way that suits me following useful advice and the lovely people of this forum. Everybody has their own coping mechanism and one cap doesn't fit all.

I no longer gamble, lie or cheat and everything in my life is transparent.

Stay strong it is possible.

Well....I am today celebrating 100 days gf :-). Shall I be having a flutter on the National?.......nope. Every year I have been the one that has gone to the bookies for everyone and put various bets on......well this year they will have to do it themselves. Even though my problem is online slots and not horses previously it has still set me off chasing my loses if my horse didn't win. If it did win then I would spend the money gambling online. Therefore I shall have self control and abstain altogether.

Take care and stay strong.....it can be done.
