Hi,
Realised I've got a problem with my gambling. I've spent £600 this month which might not sound a lot but for me it's 2 months rent. I'll be able to work longer shifts to make back the money so I can pay rent, but that means no social life for 2 months. I don't want to get stuck in some sort of spiral were I end up never seeing my friends because I'm spending all my time working off my gambling debts. How do I accept the money's gone and I can't get it back?
Hi hello
Good question!
For me, acceptance came with time.
I did the opposite to the advice I was given....because I am an analytical sort of bloke, I worked out roughly what I had pilfered away during my gambling years....very sobering. 🙁 As I said, it is not the recommended thing to do, but it was just something I had to do. We are all different 🙂
I do know this. If you can somehow accept that what you have lost is truly lost, and resist the urge to chase the loss, it will be easier for you to stop gambling.'
We all make bad decisions or investments during our lifetimes. Nobody is perfect. Treat it as a hard lesson learned. Every day you don't have a bet is a good day.
Take care
