Just put my last £400 into a roulette machine in Ladbrookes ...knowing that I have no chance of recuperating the £24 thousand pounds that I lost last year along with my long suffering lovely girlfriend. ...I have lost self asteem. ..and I'm a nervous wreck. ..I still don't know if I can manage to stay away ...as soon as I get spare cash I'm straight there expecting to win the jackpot. ..which I never will...why do i keep doing this ...I know im letting myself my family and my friends down

Hi thehilster,

You need to stop chasing your losses which is easier said than done I know. You are getting spun around the vicious circle and need to break the circuit. You need to come to terms with your losses as it's dead money, gone forever. I've lost over 200k over the years. I've learned not to worry about it so you can too.

If you don't do something you'll soon be worrying about the loss of your girlfriend's love and support. She is far more important than money and gambling. You'll end up in the gutter or prison and neither option is worth contemplating.

Contact Gamcare for counselling and or go to your local GA meetings.

Get the blocks on gambling online sites and self exclude from High St outlets.

Give your girlfriend control of your finances. It's important that you have minimal funds available when the urges hit you.

You could do worse than joining the 2015 Challenge on here. It's very much one day at a time but you can soon rack up a high number of days free from the gambling. It's better than racking up huge monetary losses.

I guess you are still young and you can still have a great future ahead of you with the right guidance. Sieze that opportunity and do it quickly for the sake of both yourself and your woman.

Take Care Now.

Close your email accounts & set up a new one. Also change your phone number. That will stop the new offers.

Hi thehilster. Thanks for the post on my diary. Have not always been this positive and strong. I have been gambling for over 30 years and tried to stop countless times. Bookies was my problem horses roulette football you name it i would bet on it. Could not say how much i have lost over the years as never kept count so know how you feel mate. I know its really hard but you need to put your losses behind you and try to start a fresh. Face up to your problems and get some help. Anything you need you will find on here. Read as many diaries as you can, post as much as you like, join the 2015 challenge. We are all here to help but the most important thing for me is that i really wanted to stop this time. Not just for the money but to make me a better person. I can gaurantee you if you can start racking a few days up you will feel much better about yourself. Sorry for the long winded reply but welcome to the start of your new life.

Day 2 just awoke feeling very emotional partly because of yesterday and partly because I have read a lot entries of others on the forums just looked at a slip in pocket I have a small win a fiver ...The question is should I collect or destroy. The gremlin inside will have to walk past the super magnetic pull of the f.o.b.t. roulette. ..can I resist. .The pure unadulterated list I have for this evil possessive beast
