Hello everyone, first time posting in here. Got myself 8k in debt before and luckily my parents helped me out with a loan that I paid back, and I stopped gambling all together, fast forward 3 years and my girlfriend split up with me and I went into a deep spiral and now I’ve gambled around 27k worth of debts in credit cards and loans and am about to go bankrupt. I need to stop again but find the urges when down so hard to fight. What strategies do you use when you try so hard to fight the urge when you feel down?Â

Use the tools that are there to stop gambling. Gamstop, gamblocker etc to give yourself that well-deserved break you need then go to the meetings. You do not need to figure it out alone and there are a lot of people who bring lots of wisdom when you can't seem to figure it out yourself.

Hi Darren - Definitely sign up to Gamstop; you will be unable to sign up to new sites and your access to old ones will be blocked pretty much within 48hrs.Â
Without preaching, I'd advise a visit to your GP to talk about your thought processes as I feel my gambling had a lot to do with my mental state (depression and addiction are very much related).
You have done the right thing to start discussing your addiction - the fact you stopped before means you could do so again. This time it's got to be for real otherwise that little voice will tell you its okay to have another roll of the dice again.

Thank you for the replies, I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow, you could be right I do suffer with depression and naively thought I could cope without help, which could be a factor as to why I have slipped back into it. Thanks for your support and advice it’s really appreciated.
