Been  10 days not gambling. There is a positive to lockdown. Started reading topics on the forum and realised i gamble to escape from reality. I started gambling in my youth and had a big problem with it. It affected my relationships and my finances. I stopped when i had my child at 28,didn't gamble for years. Life started to get a bit difficult about 10 years ago and i started gambling again. Lost both my parents within 18 months, life was pretty hard and I made it worse by gambling and getting into debt again. My family don't know about any of this, my mum was the only one who knew. I was lucky i could tell her anything. I am lucky at the moment cause my best friend knows everything, i was totally honest and told her everything, which was a weight off my mind. She is there if i need to talk and she reminds me of the positives in my life so that i don't have the urge to escape reality. When you start chasing your losses its like your on a treadmill but just going backwards.

one quote I heard was in a gamblers perspective if we look back too much we get depressed, if we look forward too much we get anxious and if we look to the present we feel calm.  This has worked for me as I look to stay gamble free for the day that I am in, its a small and achievable objective.  Look for small achievable objectives each day and feel good at the end of the day when you have achieved them.
