ok been playing these horrible machines far too long and from now on will not step one foot into a bookies ever again.
been barred from most of the bookies in my work area due to me smashing the place after a loss.
too many next door numbers they wind me up something chronic.
lost too much money, today is the day I stop for good!
Joe.
Hi Joe,
Thanks for your post, and welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you've made the decision to stop at this point, I'm sure you've given enough money to the bookies by now, and it sounds like it's caused plenty of stress for you. Are you doing anything specific to stay away from them though, if the urges come up? Got anybody to call or chat with that can give you support or help take your mind off betting? Some people get into exercise as a way to help manage urges, and that helps quite a lot.
Otherwise, have you thought about maybe getting individual counselling for all this? That could help make your recovery more secure and long lasting, help address any underlying issues that contribute to your gambling, and help you with ways to manage the urges that might come up from time to time. Counselling helps a lot of people to come to terms with their gambling, and we can point you in the direction of that if you're ever interested. Just give us a call on the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline from 8am to midnight every day and we'd be happy to speak with you.
Hope you're finding the forum to be a supportive place, and do hang in there. You can beat this.
Travis
Joe you have come to the right place mate.
I know the feeling only too well , back 26 lands on zero , back zero lands on 26.
My Favorite number 17 usually got me out of a mess but the times it tickled 17 and landed on 25 or 34 meant I was doing the same bloody horrible machines.
It isnt an easy ride , im 10 days into recovery and trying my best to build on the days.
How long since your last bet ?
Hi thanks for the advice guys, really nice to be able to share this. last bet on them was yesterday. Today is the day I stop and this forum has given me the incentive to stop. Thanks.
Joe.
