Good afternoon,
Was wondering if anyone can give some help/advice?
I’m finding it very hard to stop thinking about putting a bet on today. It’s my usual Saturday habit.
I’ve blocked gambling sites on my BT broadband and on my mobile via Vodafone Secure Net. However, I know that with one or two clicks I could just as easily disable them. I really don’t want to though!
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that I could use to avoid these thoughts of betting.
Thanks,
M
Hi Mspoh 18
First of all welcome to the forum and addressing your addiction. I won't lie to you in the early days all you will think about is gambling on a Saturday as this had become part of your life ! It's easy for me to say but you have got to try and occupy your mind albeit easy said than done. My advice would be go for a long walk or something today where you won't need to pass a bookies and even leave your phone at home. Sorry for the short quick response but have to go out myself, I will try n catch up with your story and stuff tomorrow at some point. Best of luck with everything.
All the Best
Darren
U could try self excluding from them all. It helps I can assure u
1) Plan your time in advance - fill up your Saturday hour by hour with things to do that involve other people. Go out, do something.
2) Tie up your money. Even if you wanted to have a bet you won't be able to (which will be massively frustrating). Give your cards and cash to someone else.
3) Go to a GA Meeting. There are ones that are on a Saturday (check their website).
Get some DECENT help and advice. The fact that you are asking the questions means that you have not yet found a decent reliable support network.

Weekend is by far the biggest problem with me, too. On weekdays work obviously takes away much of thinking. What should be done?
Affected by gambling?
