I have been visiting this website on and off for several years but it is only now I have decided to post.
I have gambled for nearly 10 years and just before Xmas I realised I needed help if I wanted to grow up and stop living each month spending every bit of money in bookies.
I have been seeing a councillor for 7 weeks now and have the release from not lying or being deceitful is a great feeling. It wasn't an easy decision to tell girlfriend and family but ITS BEEN THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!
I have recently purchased the GA Book - Sharing Recovery Through Gamblers Anonymous as instructed by my councillor. I'm working through the 12 step program and would like to hear from others that have used this program and any advice people would be willing to offer!
Thanks for reading

7 weeks with no gambling and counting!
Hi newman18
That's such great news. I've just had my first session today. I told my family first and then sought help. I wholeheartedly agree with you - the feeling when you admit it and start to try and turn things around is great.
I hope you continue to do well
Best wishes & congrats
Ali

The process of recovery is lifelong, requiring discipline and a change in perspective and attitude. Only by regularly practicing the 12 steps can you continue to live a peaceful, happy, and sober life. The steps become a guide to living compassionately and honestly and a way of life for recovering alcoholics.
