Started at 21 now 36.

My god it’s been a long journey.

Lost plenty when I was 21 on w**********l Roulette.

Paid that off within 4 years

Didn’t gamble at all for 14 years. Maybe the odd go nothing more than I could afford and always in budget.

For some reason I took a money advance and wanted to clear debt.

End of story I’ve managed to not gambling everything but now in debt. I have a problem.

Can’t tell my wife as I think she would leave me and take the children. Am I finically crippled, no. Can I pay all my bills yes. Do I now have to hide money each month to cover this debt yes. Can I earn more money. Yes.

f**k sake. I’m such a w****r. The hardest thing will be not actually gambling as I have been for the last three months pretty much every day playing blackjack.

Gamban ✅
Gamstop ✅

I will be checking in here and updating my journey for my own sanity.

Hi BigBird18,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your story with us. You've certainly proven you can move away from the gambling long term once in the mindset of stopping. Well done for blocking your easy access to online gambling. You never have to be alone with this and it's great to hear you're confronting your gambling now.

Feel free to contact our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or live chat if you would like further support with your gambling.

kind regards,

Good luck on your journey!

I would recommend taking it day by day...The first part of my addiction recovery I woke up and out loud said "Just for today I won't gamble" - Im coming up to my first year gamble free and I've began to repay my debts. I have been through recovery and relapse a few times but in my past experiences I always said I won't gamble for the rest of my life!

Update.

I have told my wife everything. I hope with time she can trust me again.

This is going to be a long and painful journey.
