Took my first steps this past week, everything cut off and had my first pay on Friday and Saturday was a difficult day as I'd gambled for years on a Saturday, i didn't gamble and it's been a week, I just wanted some advice on what I can expect, does it get easier? Do you start to enjoy actual life with having extra money to do things etc ..

If you haven't already done so, I'd encourage you to put blockers and self exclusion tools in place. In the coming days you may have urges to gamble, if you have blocks in place now it will be difficult to gamble when you feel the urge

After a few weeks things get easier. I think each day you get through encourages you to keep going. I'm only beginning to feel the difference now after 59 days. I saved the money that I would have gambled. I was good with money until gambling took hold of me and slowly slowly am getting back on track. The blocking software a good deterrent. Wish you well ?

First of all well done on reaching the week and getting through a pay day

yes it most definitely gets easier,

I am about 9 months free and feel so good about it, found it difficult to start with but stopped watching sport that I only followed for gambling and just tried to focus on other things in life.

i gambling everyday for a 20years and most thoughts were on the next bet but I went to beacon councillors and found it good to talk so that would be my advice talk to people don’t be afraid to tell people your problems as you will find people will help if you open up.

My first 50 days I counted everyday down and ticked a calendar but I found that was trigger to continue to think about gambling so I stopped that and time has flown by.

so my advice is talk and keep yourself busy with other things and don’t surround yourself with people that talk to much about gambling

good luck and be proud of yourself

Thanks for the advice, I have all blocks in place already so I guess that's a good thing.
