This is hell.. I am very new to this website / forum but I have no idea where to start.

This all started maybe 10 years ago, not so deep & intense as it is now but it started back then. I am having massive issues trying to get myself to stop gambling, but I cant see a way out. It all started so innocently and manageable but has got way out of hand in the last year or two. I am signed up to Gamstop / Gamban etc but I was introduced to these Crypto offshore websites which are the worst of the worst. Even closing my account & another can be reopened, it all honestly its draining & I cannot remember the last time I had a good day mentally. I am physically and emotional drained, my self care has gone down the drain like the little things of going hairdressers and keeping my beard in tact. I am 29 years old & the worst thing is I have just had a son recently in May... why am I doing this, I should be saving / providing for him & his future. People are around me are aware Ive been gambling & suffer with this horrible addiction. Sports betting mainly & some slots here and there. I just cant get it through to myself that I am working hard all through the month just to pay the casinos my wages.. I do suffer with ADHD which I think contributes to my addictive problem I have.

I just cant see a way out & I am affecting the people around me who care for me.

Hello DS,

Welcome to our GamCare Forum and thank you for sharing.

From what you share, I can hear how much you are reflecting on your gambling and how things are for you right now. Reflection can be overwhelming as you start to feel all the emotions that you may have held back, however reflection can be a powerful tool in allowing you to remind yourself of the things that have happened to learn from them and make changes going forward to build healthier habits.

You are here sharing and wanting to access support and that is a positive! which has come from your want to make things better for you and your family. We are here to support you and also provide a listening space to help you take action on how you can overcome this should you wish to. We provide 1:1 support too which can be a valuable space for you to go through your triggers and work on understanding and breaking the gambling cycle/habit. Please do contact us through to our helpline to speak to one of our advisers for a debrief or if you want to access more of a 1 to 1 support through GamCare. Our helpline is open 24/7 and you can contact us via call on 0808 8020 133 or go through our website and chat to someone here: https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-support/talk-to-us-now/

Samaritans can also support you at any time if you’re experiencing emotional distress:  https://www.samaritans.org/   Tel: 116 123.

Best wishes,

Brielle
