2014 Challenge

Hi Mr Brightside,

Please can I join this group. I'm just 3 days gambling free so far, but feeling positive for the first time in a long while.

Thanks to all the brave and honest posters, you're an inspiration to me.

Edit. Just to add some context. I'm really commited to stopping gambling for good. I've bet on sports for the last 10 years online mostly and mainly football. The last year or so my stakes have steadily increased and my weakness has been chasing losses.

I have a very supportive family and really want to change for them. It's scary, but I genuinely feel like I've had my last bet.

Sorry for the quiet week - mental week.

21 soldiers tucked up safely back at base camp with a number of regular Saturday "checkers" still to come - confident that this will be a good week.

Welcome to gersfc21 and well done on the journey so far soldier - I'll formally welcome you on Sunday.

There's another couple of potential team members who could join us this week. Another check in confirming the want to participate will be enough for elchipper and paulll to also be confirmed as new team members on Sunday - hope you pick this up and join us folks.

Many thanks for all the comments and kind words re my 50 weeks........almost into less than double digits of days before the big year! I'm pretty gutted that Scambling has disappeared - he was due to celebrate the year the day before me. Where are you Scambs? Hitthefan is another big name that I'm about to turn red on the master spreadsheet.....what's happened to some of our core? I'm so glad we have so much strength as a team.......old, new and all.......we're a great team!!

Good evening fellow members,
Checking in tonight to report a successful gamble free week. I went past the 50 week mark on Thu, of which I am very grateful for the achievement, but remain on my guard not to relax and think I've conquered this addition, as all of you are aware, it will kick me back to day one, quite easily. One day at a time and remain aware of the temptations.
I had a great day today taking my 11 year son to his first away game of football, and with a 2-0 win, I am very pleased tonight.

Well done everyone for your efforts and have a good remainder of the weekend.

Checking in for the week.

Got to apologise to everyone on here as haven't been on the website much recently so haven't read any of your posts. Have given a commitment to you all will complete this challenge so will continue to come and check in and also know should I struggle at any time here's the place to come

Checking in early [before Mr B's update] on what will be Day 185 next deadline!! Out for the day at Xmas craft fayres and shoping for silly little things :)! keeps the OH happy! - But before I rush of out for the day and leave the builders rendering & plastering all the holes that they have made, just a quick shout to Mr B who must be feeling like its a week before Xmas....or a week before being GF for a full 365 days!!

The anticipation must be a great feeling and on THE day, a time of great reflection on what you have acheived in that year, not just on this challenge and keeping the soldiers marching, but also in your personal life. A big well done, stay in there and also a big well done also to all other marchers ~ we all know how difficult this can be, more so for some than others, but it is still a difficult beast to master!! Anyway Mr B - hope the celebration plans are coming on and it wont be too anti-climatical!

And so we all march on with you and with a similar purpose and cause ~ being gamble free, one day at a time, abstaining by choice, marching forward to the new challange of doing the same through 2015. Keep going everyone, finish line is in sight!!

And also for what is for many a most stressfull time - me especially - be vigilant, be strong but be happy!!
