Hello everyone, my name is james. First time on here and hoping to once and for leave my demons behind, from a young age i have gambled whether it be on little things like gogos or pogs (it could never be for fun only for keeps). Dont really think much about it when your that age that this might not be normal. I left school at 16 and started college where i found scratchcards and poker. i gambled alot of my earnings on scratchcard. At 18 i could play poker online. (awful times). Gambled all my money and my education away. i reached the age of 26 where i started to seriously bet on football matches which weirdly took over the scratchcard and poker habit i had. Havent done either of these for 2 years (is that normal). the problem i find with betting on football is the freedom it still gives me, i can bet and not have to look at it constantly. I'm now 28 and been broke for the last 12 years of my fairly young life. I hate that i cant do anything, i literally have no friends because of my gambling. Its hard to say i work full time but live at home with my parents but ive got no money to go out. (clearly doesnt work out). But im hoping with the support of the site i can once and for all beat my demons. (Be able to watch a game of football for the joy of the game, rather than someone scoring a goal and not really watching the game at all, just seeing every chance they may miss. It pains me that i cant do things with my children because i see the cost of something and that wow thats expensives, but i'd happily put £100 on a bet that may only last about 15 minutes. Seriously why could i think that was acceptable. Today WILL be a new start and i look forward to the furture i can bring myself and my children. Stay strong everyone we can do this

Checking in - day 437

Enjoy the rest of the weekend & remember the gambling urges will pass. They will be less intense as you distance yourself from gambling. Don't feed those urges, starve them instead. Suzy

Hi Claire and troops ( fantastic going Claire on passing that 100 milestone, have a lovely away weekend lol)

Checking in on 482 days and at this time enjoying the freedom that recovery has given me, the freedom to not worry about gambling is a blessing in disguise, and I today am grateful for it,

Keep marching troops and keep starving it. It hates that, but we do grow to love starving it

Suzanne xx

Reaching the double century last week we had mrdaniel1. Well done to you, great achievement.

Couple of new members this week, welcome to the challenge. Feel free to post more regularly in the early days / weeks and if you want to ask any questions to the other members I'm sure we have a lot of experience of quitting between us.

Great to see Sonic boom, Lord Lucan and WillDo79 reach two weeks .. Nice going. Keep at it. Those first two weeks after your last gamble I think are the worst.

Finding other things to occupy your mind when gambling thoughts are at the forefront can be the key to success.

Hitting 4 weeks I'm happy to see TheGhost this week. Time passes so quickly ... Doesn't seem long since you were welcomed as a new member.

Some great numbers up there with our big hitters and current Top 10 club for days clocked up we have ...
