wow, what a fantastic thread, going back and reading everyones plight and fight to beat this addiction, like my thread and story goes i never thought i'd see 20 weeks out let alone a few days, but everyone here has a different path and you are all doing so well..look if i can do it anyone can,ive gambled for over 30 years , and only now im realising about what ive done , its not pretty one iota .... the destruction through gambling i have left is not a pretty story but im not religious at all but i believe i have faith in myself to get through my debts ,gamble free, and come out the other side a better person, yes its going to take time, but hey if i was still gambling i wouldnt have the cash to pay any of my bills ..i work 40 hours a week and im now looking for extra work to get those debts down..just look at my profile picture,i have a wonderful family ,with which i could have lost ..and to top it all off,we're are getting our passports next month and going on a family holiday abroad ..now thats something to look forward too..anyway i ramble too much, sometimes my brain goes faster than i can type properly.. keep happy people and be strong 🙂 , until next week ...wow 134 days !! 🙂

Welcome chalkeyav, you have been checked in for this week and added to the front page. Some good check ins today just remember on the low days to keep moving forwards. Day by day if we choose not to gamble the light at the end of the tunnel gets closer. The debts at first can really suffocate us, often they can be an excuse to gamble again. But its not an excuse worth using as by gambling our situation will only get worse. Stay strong, stay clean and as time goes by the extra money for holidays, nights out etc will become available!

Hi,

I am signing up to the 2015 challenge.

Today i am taking steps to ensure that gambling is something i can control and not something that controls me. I spent a lot of money this morning that i didn't have to start with and have no means to replace. Therefore, enough is enough. I have been gambling for 16 years and i don't even recognise myself anymore. I think of gambling every single day, probably more than i think of my wife and kids and that is just not right. Tried to convince myself and it was something i could control on my own but after reading many posts on this website i realise that just is not possible.

So today is the start and tomorrow will be day 1.

Welcome reggie23, you have been checked in and added to the front page. Make sure you take all the help that this site can offer and all the help that the many great people on here can provide. Get as many barriers in place and day by day make that choice not to gamble. Have a read of Duncanmacs recovery diary, its brilliant and very inspiring.
